"I wanted to heal my previous experience and prevent further birthing experience wounds this time. Fortunately, and very possibly because of our decision to have a doula, this experience was beautiful and amazing. I had not achieved my all natural birth, but I was able to have a vaginal birth. Alicia was so helpful in creating an attitude of "All births are beautiful", and I just felt my experience was whole and complete and wonderful regardless of the details. This birthing experience was healing. It gave to me what I wanted to give myself in that scary c-section delivery. It supported my husband and I in a way that allowed us to give each other what we were looking for the first time we experienced my labor together, and it helped to heal the disappointment I held from our previous experience.
