Resources

There are so many great resources in our area for the pregnant and birthing Mom! Please check out the links below.

Baby Bird Birth Services -- Meredith Pfister:

Meredith is my back-up doula. A talented and caring individual, she is a fabulous doula in our community. Meredith is also an ICEA Childbirth Educator in our area.

Black Hills Birth Circle:

A local group in the area that answers questions for expecting parents, postpartum Moms, etc. Find them here.

Black Hills Birth Network:

We are lucky to have Black Hills Birth Network in our area. Check out this group of local professionals here to help families. Find them on Facebook and check out their Resource Guide!

Evidence Based Birth:

Rebecca Dekker is a nurse with a PhD who wished to help women find and reserach evidence-based care for pregnancy and childbirth. Sometimes, a healthcare provider's "usual practice" is not supported by evidence. Dekker's articles provide a meta-analysis of all the research, allowing women to decide what is best for them and their babies based on the evidence surrounding procedures such as induction, or "Big Baby," or Vitamin K shots. Her website is fantastic, with info regarding classes, materials, etc. Find her on Facebook, too.

Post-Partum Depression Resources:

See the Black Hills Birth Network's Resource Guide for local professionals.

Also check out Post Partum Support International—South Dakota Chapter. They are based in the Rapid City area, although they have resources in all of South Dakota. They can be found here.

Birth Rights Resources and Birth Support:

ImprovingBirth.org and their Facebook Group

ICAN--International Cesarean Network and their Facebook Group

Birth Monopoly focuses on the broken system of maternity care in the US and how to fix it.
